JOSEF NEWGARDEN
DETROIT GRAND PRIX
TEAM: TEAM PENSKE
RACE 1 FINISH: 4TH
RACE 2 FINISH: 2ND
“It was a good day today, similar to Race 1 for the No. 2 car. We had a great race car, but we started too far back. I messed up on my final lap in qualifying this morning. We had a great car all weekend though. We weren’t missing anything as far as strategy or pace. It was tough missing out on a victory here in Detroit because it’s the home of Team Penske and Chevrolet. We just missed it in Race 2 though. If we can work on our qualifying effort in the No. 2 car, we’re going to be able to put the whole puzzle together.”

DETROIT GRAND PRIX
TEAM: ED CARPENTER RACING
RACE 1 FINISH: 10TH
RACE 2 FINISH: 21ST
“We had a solid Top-10 in Race 1, but Race 2 just didn’t go our way. The car just lost power coming across the start/finish line toward the end of the race. I don’t know exactly what happened and it didn’t cost us a great finish, but it’s a shame. Our races this year have been really good, and this is really the first race weekend where we’ve struggled. It’s something we’ll try to learn from and make sure it doesn’t happen again. The Fuzzy’s Vodka guys have already had a long few weeks, and now they have another problem to fix. Hopefully the No. 20 car can rebound next weekend in Texas and then with myself at Road America later this month
